Could The Youth Next Door Be A Terrorist?

isis flagThe Muslim people in general get a bad rap because the Militant groups (Jihad, ISIS) are a select few who practice Islam who are murderous in the name of the Prophet Mohammad.  No religious faction suggests, insists, or states that taking the life of others be a practice when non-believers do not see things your way.  It’s a scapegoat for what is really a political movement disguised as a religious measure.  What is puzzling is that many young college kids are trying to go to the Middle East to become a member of these militant groups.  The mid-west seems to show a higher concentration of college kids trying to travel to join ISIS in last six months but these events are happening all over the country.  There appears to be a pattern profile for these youth.  They all seem educated, come from a decent family (using the term loosely as we know dysfunctional is the new normal), have a need to belong and no longer want to identify as American.  Apparently, there is a campaign that is making it enticing to kids.  People we need to spend more time with our children and make sure that they are mentally fit to handle becoming an adult. We all work so much and leave the children to their own devices.  When does common sense kick in and what happen to all the morals that they were taught during their childhood?  These are our youth who have the ability to be anything that they want in the world and many are choosing to join what amounts to a cult.  Are we putting in the time necessary to develop a well-rounded individual?  The U.S. government is trying to deter them but for every six that they block from going to the Middle East at least three others will get through.  Many who are getting stopped are vocal about their new found beliefs and are spreading the word.  Others are being caught and arrested because parents are taking action and informing authorities.  What can we do better to help our children be more socially accepted in their current environment?  Just because someone paints you a pretty pictures does not mean that you have to buy it.  Discernment is important for these college kids to learn and it can best be taught by a parent.  It is sad to say but I often wonder if the youth next door could be a terrorist.
