My 2022 Year-end Review

The Year 2022 has been a roller coaster for me. I started all badass, and I had to humble myself with each passing month. There were more wins than losses, but it wasn’t what I had hoped. In my personal life, I achieved self-care and peace of mind. In my business life, I missed my mark by a mile. Here is my 2022 year-end review.

Write Books

My goal for the Year was to write four (4) books. I completed zero new books. I had the same goal as last year. Year over year, I made no progress. It’s disappointing, but I read more than fifty books this Year.

Podcasting (Thoughts in the Car)

My goal was to record and publish a new weekly show for the year. I completed twenty-seven (27) episodes. That’s only 51% of the plan. I’m down by 41% compared to last Year. I hoped for several guest appearances and only got one (1). Part of it was my lack of motivation to get it done.

Blog Posts

My goal for the Year was to post an article every week. Much to my chagrin, I completed fifteen (15) pieces. I am -72% below expectation compared to last Year.

Book Sales 2022 Year-end Review

Overall book sales for the Year are down 50% online compared to +27% last Year.

Live Events (Festival & Pop-up Shops)

Venturing back out into the world was great this Year. The goal was to get out there at least once a month. I attended seven (7) events this Year. Most of my book sales were in person at pop-up shops and a couple of festivals. I believe this is the only area where I made positive strides. Of course, participation and sales were up 100% since I had not been out in the world for a few years.

Surprisingly, revenue is up +55% overall in my 2022 year-end review despite my shortcomings with writing, podcasting, and blogging. It was due to some additional freelance opportunities. Last Year, total income was +15% when I added all the income sources. The Year was a disappointment in terms of what I planned. My 2022 year-end review does provide the baseline for my goal setting for next Year. It shows you that sometimes you can’t predict the headwinds that might shift your course. Oddly enough, practically all of my goals will remain intact for the coming Year ahead. I’m going to keep trying until you I achieve it.
