How You Spend Your “Me Time”

We all deserve and require a bit of time to ourselves. It helps with decompression, self-reflection, and energy renewal. Life is filled with challenges that keep us moving at a rapid pace. We have all heard the saying that there are never enough hours in a day or something to that effect. Yet, we do everything within our power to check every task off the list. How you spend your “me time” is important. Here is how I spend mine.

How I spend my “me time”

I’m slowly emerging to enjoy my favorite past time. I love people-watching. The best place for people-watching is the local park. I find it inspiring to watch people interact when they don’t know you’re observing from a distance. As people engage, you become the narrator of the actions that you witness and it always tickles me when the outcome is as you imagined. How you spend your “me time” needs to be satisfying.

Reading is another way that I spend my time. I enjoy discovering new books. My genre of choice is always mystery thriller. However, I have ventured in support of other independent authors into new genres like graphic and fantasy. On a good week, I can get through two novels. It is amazing that after reading a few books by one author, you can recognize their writing style when you see it.

How you spend your “me time” does not always have to be an activity. There are plenty of people who believe quiet and stillness are pleasurable. Freeing the mind of any movement or task is welcomed and acceptable. Mediation is an excellent way to reclaim time for yourself. Many people long for the day that they can lay on the couch without any responsibility.

I fall more on the side of having an experience that requires minimal effort. Hobbies count as an experience.  I enjoy gardening as a hobby. It is a tranquil activity that gives me solace. We all need a little time to ourselves. How you spend your “me time” could make all the difference in how you cope with your daily life.
