Cavaliers vs. Warriors – Game 3 – Is this the Decision Maker?

DSCF1010Many sports analysis say that the winner of game three is usually the championship winner at the end of the series in the NBA Championship final in fact they are touting that is the outcome 84% of the time.  The game starts out at a quick pace with the Cavaliers turning up the heat on the Warriors. Cavs score first and with five minutes left in the first quarter they lead by four points and Iman Shumpert gets hurt as he runs into a hard screen and he leaves for the locker room. It remains to be seen if he will return to the game but not this quarter.  JR Smith starts out very smooth with a nice fade away shot and a much needed pass play.  Once again, Draymond Green of the Golden State team gets a personal foul early and creates a four point play for the Cavaliers.  I don’t understand why he would block James Jones in the act of shooting and making a three point shot.  Big mistake but this is only the beginning.  Calm down Warriors try not to give it away from the onset.  The first quarter ends with Cavaliers leading by four points.

Second quarter is about to start and the players are a bit anxious. The Warriors get two points in the first three minutes in the quarter. James Jones of the Cavaliers commits a foul and now he is half way to the finish line of being out of the game. He has three personal fouls. JR Smith is firing on all cylinders tonight in this first half of the game. The Warriors tied the game briefly but still trail by two points with nine minutes left in the first half of the game. Looks like Iman Shumpert is okay to return to the game. There are five minutes left in the half in the Cavaliers are leading by three points. Shumpert makes an uncontested three point shot and the Cavaliers increase their lead to five points. Stephen Curry is not having his best game in terms of landing his shots. The quarter is winding down and the Warriors are falling further behind. The quarter ends with the Cavaliers leading by seven points. Golden State was known for having the highest scoring team in the NBA for the 2014-2015 and today they only scored 37 points in the first half.

DSCF1002Third quarter starts and Golden State is still sluggish for lack of a better word to describe their play.  The Cavaliers are now leading by ten points which is the biggest lead of the night.  Cavaliers are denying the Warriors with terrific defense moves with plenty of block shots.  Who is Matthew Dellavedova? He is having a great game for the Cavaliers this evening.  This guy is making shots all around the court.  The Cavaliers are turning it up in the third and continue to out shine the Warriors.  There is less than five minutes left and the Warriors cannot contain the force that is Cleveland.  The Warriors just cannot make anything stick. The Cavaliers lead continues to grow.  It discouraging for Golden State fans out there.  The lead is in the double digits in favor of the Cavaliers with less than two minutes in the quarter to play.  Stephen Curry is finally making a few of his shots but could it be too little too late as the quarter comes to an end with one left to play.

Fourth quarter begins and the Warriors look spent but these last fifteen minutes could tell the tale of resilience.  Okay so the Cavaliers are making foolish mistakes and their once twenty point lead is slowly slipping away with eight and a half minutes left in the game.  The Warriors are giving it the old college try to get back into this competition and now their only at a five point deficit.  The Cavaliers have had seven turn overs in this quarter with six minutes left in the fourth.  They still lead the Warriors but the distance is at arm’s length and obtainable.  Hold on Warriors fans because this might be the Cinderella finish you have been waiting for all night.  The Cavaliers try to resume control of this match and LeBron James looks hurt after a successful lob pass play.  The score is still a difference of five points with less than four minutes left to finish.  There are only two and a half minutes left and the Cavaliers only lead by four points.  The Warriors were rallying and Stephen Curry through the ball away and that seems to seal the fate for the Warriors this evening.  The Cavaliers are victorious and the final score is Cavaliers 96 Warriors 91.  The Cavaliers lead the series 2 to 1 against the Golden State Warriors. Does this mean that Cleveland will get a championship?
