Independence Day 2021: The Good Old Days

Many are finding their way to the streets. People are out in droves wearing masks and without wearing masks. Traffic is ridiculous. Gas prices are rising, and people remain impatient. There are tented gatherings, overcrowded beaches, and amusement parks. Communities are banding together to celebrate America like the good old days.

Unlike last year where nothing was going on, everything is in full effect on July 4th, 2021. In my travels today, restaurants are busy, church park lots are full, and I saw a line wrapped around the parking lot of fill-it-yourself ice dispensing machine. America is overdue for a good time. Its citizens will not disappoint. They want to party like the good old days.

Tonight, the sky will be a ballroom floor for all the bright colors to dance. You can see them up close or in the distance. A collage of different fireworks will captivate every onlooker as if it were a hypnotic spell. We will be there from the first burst of color to the last. The stars and stripes are the prestigious guest of honor and will receive accolades like the good old days.

Independence Day is the valid birthday of America. Every walk of life will pay homage in some way throughout the day. I have wished people a happy holiday, and they have reciprocated in kind. Today is the one day when we are all one band with one sound. Independence Day is something that should be acknowledged, even if it’s with a cold beer and bratwurst sausage on a stick.

With Covid-19 variants still plaguing the country, I find it hard to participate. Yes, things are a thousand percent better than last year. However, the invisible threat still lurks in the shadows. I implore you to keep your guard up while letting your hair down. Happy July 4th!
