Celebrate World Book Day

Today is World Book Day. It is an annual event that celebrates literacy for children around the world. Did you know that there at least 100,000 new book title releases every single day? This number of books published is an estimate for North America. It gives me great joy when I see children reading and understanding the concepts of the stories they learn.

Encourage reading in your community as a public service to foster personal enrichment. My grandchildren are beginning readers. They show excitement when they read books. The level of participation increases with every new story. Kids who love books take pride and care for them. Books are a form of entertainment, information, and education. Books unlock the imagination of children and adults alike. Regardless of the topic, you can be sure to find something on a subject that appeals to you.

Book donations and discount sales allow people the opportunity to create personal in-home libraries for their children as well as themselves. Often, new authors will give away new releases as a way to gain new readers. You can also score new books at book festivals. Usually, the organizers of festival events have made arrangements with writers needing exposure to give away a certain number of books during the event.
