Ten Men and a Lady (Republic Debate Round 2)

Today we are going to analyze the 2nd Grand Old Party Republican debate. I want you to know that I am not political and until this upcoming election cycle I have never even attempted to watch or review a political debate. However, with the Donald in the race I could not help but tune in. If it is not informative at least it will be entertaining. Let me tell you what I learned because I watched the first debate a few weeks back as well. I learned that republicans do not like to share information. I learned that republicans take the every man for himself and God for us all approach. I want you to have a listen at the highlights and then we will jump right in. The focus was narrow about immigration, foreign affairs, Planned Parenthood, they even talk about what woman should appear on U.S. currency. They also paid homage to Ronald Reagan as they stand in the library named for him. There are eleven podiums and the people on stage are Donald Trump, Ben Carson, Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, Rand Paul, Mike Huckabee, John Kasich, Marc Rubio, Ted Cruz, Chris Christy and Carly Fiorina. Ten men and a Lady sounds like the title for a movie. Now are any of these topics relative to what is plaguing Americans today? Some of it might be but for the average American these issues are not keeping us up at night. The moderators did not really ask any questions that were relative to the growth of America in the eyes of the world or to its citizens. The second republican debate occurred and the lady won it hands down. Was it really hard in a sea of men with egos that far outweigh their accomplishments?

Carly Fiorina came out jabbing with a few upper cuts to the jugular of Donald trump and a few others.  She let it be known that she is a force to be reckoned with. She came with a plan that none of the other candidates offered. Now, I do not know if her ideas will be beneficial going forward but at least she did her homework and came with her “A” game.  Out of 11 candidates invited to the big dance only four made you go hmmm. Carly Fiorina won the battle, the Donald was a bit subdued except for his interactions with Rand Paul and Jeb Bush.  Jeb Bush tried to show that he was a fighter and didn’t let the Donald push him around and Ben Carson looked sleepy throughout the entire segment.  The debate centers around answering questions about the jabs that each candidate was making against each other.  Why couldn’t the moderator ask the simple question like when you were in high school running for student body president? Simple, why do you want to be the leader of the free world and what makes you a good selection? The records of what they have accomplished in government is great but will what they have done in the past  or put into place be acceptable on the world stage. There were originally sixteen candidates in the race and now there are fifteen and I am sure after this debate a few more will drop out because polling is important and even three of them on the stage aren’t polling well enough to continue in the next few weeks.

The real questions that needed to be asked were not even mention like, the future of education – are they going to make junior college free or not, job growth – more corporate businesses are laying off fulltime workers and bringing on contractors is this a trend or to become the norm, what’s the future of healthcare – is Obamacare ending and what will replace it? The most interesting views during this 3 hour debate that was entirely too long involved international affairs. Now I am no politician but I get a vote just like any other U.S. Citizen and I want to know how is the next administration going to help me and my family stay afloat, create opportunities for my children and grandchildren in the future. I have already come to the realization that retirement for me the average working Jane is not in the cards. The question is am I going to be hand to mouth or check to check to end of my days. Obviously this is rhetorical because I know the answer is that my little 401k is not going to afford me a comfortable end especially with the U.S. Dollar devaluating with every passing day unless something changes in government. I don’t know about you but I need to know about what will happen on US soil for Americans. Now I recognize that foreign affairs are important for world stabilization but can’t we just focus on us first?

I don’t know about you but I believe in America that we can once again gain the respect of the world and get our dollar valuation back to where it once was. I believe that we will have the ability to continue to make a decent living and educate our children to remain competitive in the world because we as a people are resilient. I am not interested in running out all illegal aliens because we can’t possibly know everyone’s circumstances. Many of the people that we label as illegal didn’t choose to come here they were brought here by their parents and call America home. I am not concerned about Planned Parenthood Roe vs Wade states that it’s a woman’s choice to give birth or not. I am concerned about terror cells and the like but that’s why keeping our military strong is important.  Is it possible that Donald Trump, Jeb Bush, or Carly Fiorina will be the republican nominee? At this stage of the game all things are possible. However, if Donald and Jeb don’t start laying out a plan of action to get America back on its feet, the democratic party will get another crack at it with ease. Collaboration is the key to success here and I noticed in these last two debates Republicans don’t mesh well.

According to the news reports Democratic candidates recognize that the debate moderators did not ask any of the questions that Americans are interested in. Bernie Sanders second that emotion that they did not ask the questions that plague Americans. In an interview on CNN Hillary Clinton stated that she was not impressed. I have to agree because aside from the entertainment factor the Republicans need to learn how to get along and compromise otherwise the Democratic Party will run away with the whole bowl of wax without breaking a sweat. I am just one person but could that be a good thing or not? You decide.
