First Republican Debate Prime Time – Did You Hear the one About 5 Governors, 3 Senators, a Doctor, and a Businessman?

GOP FlagFirst I want to acknowledge that Carly Fiorina won the debate in the second tier that happened earlier this evening and perhaps she will move up in the ranks now.  Not that she will win the Republican nomination but at least she was making sense on a stage filled with men who are elected officials.

The main event for everyone to tune in is Donald Trump, a businessman who is so crass in his delivery but very relatable to the voting public.  The first question before the debate even got underway was everyone had to raise their hand if they would not pledge to not run independently against the Republican nominee.  The only one on the stage who raised their hand was Donald Trump.  He said he understood the question fully and could not promise that he would not run his own campaign if he is not the winner of the RNC nominee race.  Rand Paul was upset and chimed in to say Donald is always hedging his bets.

Immigrant is a hot topic, Trump wants illegals kept out of this country but he is only focusing on Mexico.  Bush wants immigration regulated but wants to grant illegals the opportunity to earn the right to stay in America legally.  Everyone on the stage is prolife as that is the GOP mantra.  Most are in favor of defunding Planned Parenthood.  In a few of the states, this measure has already been accomplished.  Many of the participants state that now that Gay marriage has been passed down by the Supreme Court, they do not have a problem with it.  Education was a hot bed but no one said anything that was concrete on how to improve the situation for American children who can’t afford college or the failing school systems.

The all want to kill Obamacare. No one has a real substitute to replace it.  Trump wants us to be like Canada with a single payer system.  It was implied that Ben Carson has made so many mistakes when asked about certain political subjects because he is unaware of how politics work.  His response is that the main criteria for becoming a President is the ability to think.  I believe that because of his lack of political experience he is not getting many questions from the commentators.  However, Carson does have a solid plan for building our military to show strength to our enemies.  Christy blames the past administration for the low ranking that New Jersey holds today.  He claims to have gotten them into a better position in the last five years then it was a decade ago.  Christy jumped on Carson’s bandwagon for shoring up the military to deal with foreign threats and strengthen the relationship with foreign allies.  Jeb Bush sounds like as soon as he gets into office the country will be at war yet again because he states that Obama retreated and left us vulnerable. Marco Rubio is the only one on the stage that answers all his questions directed against Hillary Clinton and not against his opponents standing next to him.  Rand Paul seems to just have a problem with Donald Trump.  He chimes in to every answer that Trump makes about any subject.

This has been one of the most entertaining debates that I have ever watched in my adult life.  Out of 17 candidates vying for the Republic nomination it seems clear that only four should remain in contention.  Now, I will leave it to you to figure out what four that should be.  #GOPDEBATE
