The Art of the Deal is Sealed (Inauguration Day)

Famed business mogul Donald J. Trump and best-selling author of “The Art of the Deal” becomes commander-in-chief today.

Russian influence sways the election in Trump’s favor.  Many of his cabinet picks are questionable at best.  No one of fame wants any part of the inauguration celebration.  With all of this going on, the swearing-in of Donald J. Trump as the forty-five President of the United States of America goes off without a hitch.  There are protesters, musicians, and tons of politicians and celebrity figures who stay away from the celebration.  Did you think that would phase our new commander-in-chief?  No, not one bit.  He seems to relish every moment of this historical event, as he should.  It is not everyone who gets bestowed with the honor of becoming the leader of the free world.

Despite his low approval rating, President Trump is now on the job.  He will be watched like a hawk by citizens at-large searching for every misstep.  You think Barrack Obama had it bad, this new administration is going to be under a microscope.  Anything incriminating or damaging within President Trump’s administration will be held up for scrutiny.  He has been a man of privilege all his life.  He is accustom to calling all the shots.  As a businessman, Mr. Trump always puts a spin on all of his dealings because branding is his specialty.   Now, he will be treated like a commoner because when you serve the people, you answer to them.

Everything about the man we now call Mr. President is unlike anything America has ever seen before.  It is refreshing and exciting for many.  Similar to a roller coaster ride, everybody can see the steep drop-off ahead, but you do not know whether to coward or brace yourself for the fall.  This is a journey, not just for us, but every nation in the world comes along too because the outcome is critical to our success.

All the protocols that meet the standards of political practice have been turned on its head.  The President of the United States never released his tax returns.  We will never know whether or not he has substantial dealings with a foreign entity who may or may not be friendly to our country.  He says that he is relinquishing control and participation in his business empire, but citizens are not convinced.  The President has a team of attorneys looking through every statute necessary for loopholes in the system so that he can maintain as much of his business assets as possible, without purposefully creating a conflict of interest.  The public is so sure that he will as they wait to pounce on him.  I think it is a waste of time and energy because President Trump does have a plan.  It may not be one that we like but a plan nonetheless.

Finally, President Trump calls upon everyone to be united as his presidency belongs to the people.  His first address as President was short, somewhat reflective of his campaign with a hint of divinity.  He vowed to bring back jobs and get people back to work. Oddly, today of all days, his speech had a hint of spiritual credence.  He actually thanked the people who he highly criticized throughout his campaign and personal life.  With emotion and sincerity, I say, make us proud Mr. President.
